The VCUarts Qatar entrance hall redesign aims to serve as the warm handshake of the school. It introduces the visitors to its core values,

including the mission and vision of VCUarts Qatar whilst also visually displaying its brand identity.

 

The concept behind the design comes from a warming childhood memory many artists may relate to which is charcoal drawing in Art class. The shades of grey that come with the medium allow the colors of VCUarts Qatar, red and yellow, to stand out more.

 

The juxtaposition of all the colors in harmony

is reminiscent of a bonfire, the achromatic shades representing the ashes, the yellow and red representing fire. The materiality also touches on the concept, the vertical bamboo beams create a sense of depth in the space and also promotes the feeling of warmth.
