In today's world, myriad distractions often disconnect us from our immediate surroundings. When envisioning the future, one might picture flying cars, artificial intelligence, or colonies on Mars. While these concepts are intriguing, it's crucial that we remain grounded in the essence of our humanity—our understanding of time and space. I advocate for a heightened spatial awareness, recognizing that our increasing reliance on devices like smartphones often shields us from truly engaging with our environment. I envision a future where humans are deeply connected to their surroundings, where technology serves as a bridge rather than a barrier between nature and ourselves.

In alignment with this vision, the design of the windows in this project is particularly innovative. These kinetic windows respond to the phases of the moon, a nod to the natural rhythms that influence earthly life. The heightened tides associated with new and full moons pose risks to those who live and work close to the sea, such as sailors, pearl divers, and surfers. On days when tides are predicted to be high, the windows open or close as a subtle alert to the potential danger. This feature also serves a more philosophical purpose: it is a reminder of the relentless passage of time, reassuring us that everything is as it should be. Such designs enhance our connection to both the celestial and terrestrial, fostering a sense of spatial awareness that links people with the broader architecture of their environment.
